Often mistaken for a mid-century modern piece, the Argyle Carver Armchair by designer Charles Rennie-Mackintosh is of the early Bauhaus movement. The late designer introduced this chair in 1899, over 50 years before the era of mid-century furniture. This original piece is more than a chair but a form of sculptural artwork, representative of someone who designed well beyond their time.

Eero Saarinen famously said:

"the underside of typical tables and chairs makes a confusing, unrestful world"

And thus his iconic pedestal table was designed in 1956 to solve this problem. The circular, non-invasive shape of the table allows for ease of flow in this narrow passageway between kitchen and living room, ultimately giving the home a feel of an open layout within a traditional 1950's floor plan.
